Installing the 2.4 update ============================================================================= To install the 2.4 update, run the installer update script which will update the PhotoFolio executable and language catalogs. You will need your original PhotoFolio CD to install the update. Your current PhotoFolio program settings will continue to work. You will need to reregister PhotoFolio 2.4 (locally, not on the Internet) when running it for the first time. 4. Whats new ============================================================================= Most language catalogs have not had the additions of PhotoFolio 2.4 translated. If you are interested in doing yours, contact Steeple Software. The most recent language catalogs are now included for the PhotoFolio 2.4 executable. A display problem under AGA relating to grey scale images has apparently disappeared since PhotoFolio 2.3. However if this is still an issue you might like to try using render.library v40.4 (available from neoscientists.org). It might (or might not) improve your visual display. For those creating their own language catalogs for the plug in modules DirectoryView and ExportHTML, the language catalog version numbers required are 3. It has been asked why selecting reload in the internal show window displays the image without any effect applied. This is the function of this command as decsribed in the documentation. The jpeg.library that shipped with the 2.3 upgrade was 6.1. There is a 6.2a version around. Why is this? 6.2a was a WOS release and from PhotoFolio 2.3 only m68k code is supported. We are looking at the feasability of supporting OS4. This depends on release dates for OS4, availability of AmigaOne motherboards and our budget. Fixed bugs since PhotoFolio 2.3: * Renaming an image using the context menu, didnt update the visible name in the bubble or under the proof correctly. Fixed. * Renaming an image using the context menu when bubble informaton was used, changed the proof to display the information beneath the proof. Fixed. * The internal show window was not updating correctly after resizing the window manually or when another image was loaded into the same window. Fixed. There were a number of reported bugs in PhotoFolio 2.3 that we cant replicate here. If anyone can describe how to reproduce these problems in detail (or at all), please let us know and we'll look at fixing them ASAP: * When applying an effect to an open image, the image window goes gray. Tried may times, hasnt occurred here. * Sometimes when I doubleclick a proof, the image window pops up empty. If I doubleclick again, the image shows up. Tried may times, hasnt occurred here. * When PhotoFolio finishes loading the proofs in a browse window and you try to change the window size using the windows zoom gadget for the first time, the contents are not rearranged. It's like the window is not actually selected though it looks so. This isnt occurring here?... anymore since 2.2. * Two pictures submitted were reported not to load or load partially using akPNG.datatype 45.7 (27-Oct-2002) and gif.datatype 39.18 (30-Mar-1996) Tried on AGA, Picasso and Cybergraphics. Doesnt happen here. We're using these datatypes and all the supplied test images loaded ok. WarpPNG.datatype 44.21 [WarpPNG 44.21 (19.10.2001)] and gif.datatype 44.4 [gif.datatype 44.4 (8.8.99)] * Under AGA only the drag'n'drop of multiple selected images (=when under the dragged thumb appears "n selected") is corrupt. When dragging a single pic it's ok Tried 256 and 32 colour modes on AGA Workbench and doesnt happen here. There does appear to be some minor rendering issues with Picasso96 dragging an unselected proof, but selected proofs work ok. Specifically we do not currently support direct rendering with Picasso96. * When saving settings, the "Show splash at startup" gets unchecked when loading PhotoFolio again. This occurs when you run PhotoFolio from a Shell. Running from Workbench does not exhibit this condition. The splash screen setting is stored as a tooltype in the icon (in documentation). When run from the Workbench, does not happen here. 5.
