Music
"an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and colour"
I love music and listening is one of my favourite pastimes. Unspeakable pleasure is derived from spending time revisiting Mozart’s Requiem or Jean-Michel Jarre’s Rendez-Vous. Listening is learning. And I listen a lot, as I have a lot to learn.

Although trained in clarinet, synthesisers and samplers are where I call home. I enjoy immersion in these sounds but occasionally I am diverted to the orchestra. Writing and music cross over more often than not for me, although not usually in a lyrical way.

Composition is not easy and I am not very good at it; my playing skills are limited - but I find it immensely satisfying.

There's always haters, no matter what you're doing - whether they're complaining that everything you do sounds the same, or it's too different.

Avicii

The man that hath no music in himself, Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils.

William Shakespeare

The world is never quiet, even its silence eternally resounds with the same notes, in vibrations which escape our ears. As for those that we perceive, they carry sounds to us, occasionally a chord, never a melody.

Albert Camus

The sound of the orchestra is one of the most magnificent musical sounds that has ever existed.

Chick Corea

I find that the time that goes by is actually your best friend when you are making a record. The passing of time gives you perspective on what you recorded and what you wrote. If something sounds good to you 12 months after you recorded it then chances are pretty good that there's something valuable about the part or the song.

M. Ward

Music is the arithmetic of sounds as optics is the geometry of light.

Claude Debussy

Richard Wagner, a musician who wrote music which is better than it sounds.

Richard Wagner

Music is the movement of sound to reach the soul for the education of its virtue.

Plato

Tones sound, and roar and storm about me until I have set them down in notes.

Ludwig van Beethoven

Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.
